Mr Hendry and Mr Mitchell run the school football team for selected pupils from P5 to P7. Training sessions take place on various days throughout the year. The team competes in League Section A and also participates in the Junior Sports Cup and the Linton Cup. Although matches are competitive, our main focus is on having fun, developing skills, and demonstrating good sportsmanship.
Cross country training takes place in February and March in preparation for the Baxter Park Cross Country Championships in early spring. Trials for this year’s squad are open to P6 pupils.
Athletics training takes place in April and May in preparation for the Athletics Championships at Caird Park in early June. Trials for this year’s squad are open to P6 pupils. Children have the opportunity to prepare for a range of events, including javelin throw, long jump, and 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4 x 100m races.
Mr Hendry runs a P5 Dodgeball Club on a Tuesday lunchtime, which is open to all P5 pupils. The main aim of the club is to get children active, having fun, building teamwork, and enjoying a game during the lunch hour.
